Sunyani & the Bono Region · 100-driver pilot

Work a full day from the first trip.

Quick Fuel Credit puts a full tank in your vehicle before the morning rush. Fuel is released on credit at your partner station — never cash — and you settle the same evening, out of the day you have just worked.

A GH₵300 tank costs GH₵24 in fuel service charge. You repay GH₵324 that evening. Nothing else is added.

Drivers do not register online. A credit officer registers you in person, with your group, at your station.

  • Fuel, not cash

Your limit is released as fuel at a partner station. No cash is ever handed to a driver.

  • Settled the same evening

The collection window closes at 20:00 on the same working day. No instalments, no rollover.

  • One charge, quoted in cedis

A GH₵300 tank carries a GH₵24 fuel service charge. That is the whole price.

The numbers

Everything is quoted in cedis, before it is quoted in percentages.

Transparent terms with no hidden charges was the third-ranked condition of trust in our survey — 94.1% of drivers named it. So every figure the facility can charge you is on this page.

  • 0

    drivers surveyed

Commercial drivers across Sunyani and the wider Bono Region, May 2026. The terms below were built against what they told us.

  • GH₵24.00

fuel service charge on a GH₵300 tank

That is 0% of the fuel value, charged once at release. It is a service charge, never interest, and it never compounds.

  • 20:00

    same-day repayment

The collection window closes at 20:00 on the same working day the fuel was released. No instalments, no rollover, no month-end.

    drivers in the pilot

Twenty groups of five, thirteen weeks, one region. We are proving the first rung before we build the next.

A worked example, in full

One full tank, released in the morning, settled the same evening.

If the evening window is missed

A late charge of GH₵30.00 a day applies — 10% of the original fuel value, never of the running balance. It therefore cannot compound, and it stops at GH₵90.00.

  • Day 1 in arrearsGH₵354.00
  • Day 2 in arrearsGH₵384.00
  • Day 3 in arrears — cappedGH₵414.00

Three days is the maximum grace period. Beyond it the balance is frozen at GH₵414.00 and recovery begins.

Only 24.3% of the drivers we surveyed had ever been unable to work for want of fuel money. Three in four had never been stranded at all.

Quick Fuel Credit is not a rescue. It is working capital for a day you were always going to work — so the first trip of the morning is a paying trip instead of a trip to raise fuel money.

How it works

Four steps, one working day.

The whole cycle opens and closes inside the day. Fuel goes into the vehicle in the morning; the balance comes back in the evening; the fund goes out again tomorrow.

  1. 1 of 4

    Get approved with your group

Five drivers from the same station or lorry park come forward together. A credit officer vets the group, the station master countersigns, and each driver is given a limit sized to the day they actually work.

  2. 2 of 4

Receive a voucher code on your phone

On an approved morning you get an SMS with a code and an amount. Any phone works — there is nothing to download and nothing to install.

  3. 3 of 4

Fill up at a partner station

The station master enters your code, sees your name and the authorised amount, and releases the fuel. No cash is handed over at any point in the process.

  4. 4 of 4

    Settle the same evening

Repay by Mobile Money, in cash at the station, or to the field collector who comes to you — any time before the collection window closes at 20:00.

Settle cleanly, move up. Ten consecutive same-day repayments take a driver from the entry limit to a full tank. Any arrears event resets that count to zero — the counter is honest in both directions.

The group guarantee

Five drivers. One promise. No small print.

Union endorsement and transparent terms were the two strongest conditions of trust the survey found. So the joint guarantee is set out here in full, including the part that is inconvenient.

What the lock looks like

One member has not settled. Until that balance clears, no one in the group draws fuel — including the four who settled on time.

  • Member 1locked
  • Member 2locked
  • Member 3in arrears
  • Member 4locked
  • Member 5locked

This is also the group’s strongest lever: four drivers who want to work tomorrow are far more persuasive, and far quicker, than any collector.

  • Exactly five, and you choose them

You pick your own four. All five must work from the same station or lorry park, all five are vetted by a credit officer, and the station master countersigns the group.

  • Jointly and severally guaranteed

Every member stands behind every other member’s balance. That guarantee is the reason a driver with no collateral and no bank record can be given a full tank on trust.

  • No one draws while anyone is in arrears

This is the rule that costs you the most, so it is printed the largest. If one member has not settled, the other four cannot draw fuel. The lock is automatic and enforced by the system — there is nothing to appeal and no one to persuade. It lifts the moment the balance clears.

  • Forty-eight hours to settle for a member

The moment a member enters day 1, the driver and all four members are notified. The group then has until the end of day 2 to settle on that member’s behalf. Cure inside the window and the group stays active — only that member drops to the entry limit and goes on probation.

  • An elected leader with no financial authority

The group leader is the first call when a balance is late. They hold no money, approve no drawdown and sign for no one.

  • Never approved on the day it is proposed

A group is vetted on one day and approved on a later one. The delay is deliberate: it removes the pressure of the moment from a five-year decision about who you stand behind.

Partners

For station masters and unions.

The facility does not work around the people who already hold the trust in a lorry park. It works through them.

Station masters

  • Verify a code in seconds

Enter the voucher code on any phone. You see the driver’s name, photo and authorised amount, you release the fuel, and you enter litres and pump price. That is the entire screen.

  • Paid for the fuel, plus commission

Your station is settled for the fuel it releases and earns commission on the incremental volume the facility brings through your pumps — drivers who would otherwise have bought a quarter tank elsewhere.

  • You endorse the drivers you know

Nobody is added to your station over your head. You countersign each group, and you are notified the moment one of your drivers falls behind.

Unions and branches

  • GPRTU and PROTOA endorsement

Branch endorsement was among the strongest conditions of trust drivers named. Branches see the terms in full before they endorse them — there is no version of the pricing kept back.

  • Notified before recovery, not after

The branch is formally notified at day 3, before any recovery step is taken, so a dispute can be settled inside the union rather than outside it.

Station masters, union officials and fleet owners are onboarded by a credit officer. Speak to the RECLED SME & Business Development Department in Sunyani.

The services ladder

What comes after fuel.

Fuel is the first rung, not the whole ladder. What earns the rest is a clean repayment record — same-day settlement, every time. None of the following is open yet, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

  • Not yet available

    Maintenance credit

A service or a repair financed the same way fuel is: released to the workshop, repaid out of the days you work, never as cash.

  • Not yet available

    Spare parts

Tyres, brakes and the parts that take a vehicle off the road for a week when they are bought late.

  • Not yet available

    Insurance renewal

The annual bill that lands as one lump, spread across the working days it protects.

How a rung is earned

Ten consecutive same-day repayments take a driver from the entry limit to a full tank. Forty take a driver to Preferred, which is where the ladder begins. Any arrears event resets the count to zero.

The ladder is deliberately held closed for the length of the pilot. We will not open a second rung before the first one has been proved over thirteen weeks with a hundred drivers.
